Learning through experience

More than a school trip

Through our partnership with World Challenge, student groups travel to rural Nepal to take part in hands-on community projects while gaining a deeper understanding of daily life in the villages where we work. Rather than simply visiting as tourists, participants become directly involved in meaningful work alongside local people.

Building water pipelines

Working with the community

During their time with TBF, students helped with the physical construction of clean water pipeline systems in remote communities. This included digging trenches, carrying materials, mixing cement and assisting with the installation of infrastructure that will provide long-term access to clean water in rural Nepal.

Understanding village life

Learning beyond the building

Alongside the construction work, groups also spent time learning about the realities of daily life in the villages. One activity involved gathering large baskets of grass to feed local buffalo, helping students understand how access to clean water has allowed many families to keep livestock and generate income through milk production.

Culturual exchange

Living with the community

The experience is designed to be an exchange, not just a volunteering trip. By living within the community, sharing meals and working alongside local residents, students gain a more honest understanding of sustainable development and the long-term impact of community-led projects in Nepal.
